What causes a dental abscess to form?
A dental abscess can be caused by various factors, including poor oral hygiene, untreated cavities, cracked or damaged teeth, and even periodontal disease. When these specific issues are left untreated, they can lead to the formation of a dental abscess. This is because once bacteria and other debris enter the tooth or the gums, they quickly grow and multiply, leading to an infection. As the infection grows, it can cause inflammation and swelling, resulting in increased pressure within the affected area.
