Transform your smile with porcelain veneers in Calgary, AB

Transform your smile with porcelain veneers in Calgary, AB

At Calgary Dental Centers in Calgary, AB, we understand the power of a terrific smile. In addition to giving others a great impression, feeling good about your smile boosts your self-confidence, which can have a ripple effect on many areas of your life. If you feel like your smile is holding you back, cosmetic dental treatments such as porcelain veneers can transform the appearance of your teeth in just a few short visits so you can smile with confidence!

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin pieces of porcelain that are custom-designed and bonded to your teeth to hide a variety of imperfections and provide a symmetrical, healthy appearance to your smile. While there are a variety of types of veneers available at Calgary Dental Centers, many patients choose porcelain veneers because porcelain is:

  • Strong and long-lasting
  • Stain-resistant
  • Natural-looking, with the same luster and translucency as natural tooth enamel

Issues that veneers can hide

Part of why veneers have become such a popular dental treatment is that they are incredibly versatile. Many dental imperfections can be rapidly treated with dental veneers, which makes them an attractive alternative to other treatments such as orthodontics that can take years and many hours in the dental chair before you see your results. Patients may opt for veneers to hide issues such as:

  • Permanent stains or discolorations
  • Crooked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chips, cracks, or unevenly worn teeth
  • Bumpy or pitted tooth enamel
  • Unevenly sized or oddly shaped teeth

Your dental veneer experience at Calgary Dental Centers

At Calgary Dental Centers, your oral health is our top priority. To that end, the first step in getting porcelain veneers placed is a personalized consultation and evaluation to determine whether they are the best choice for your individual needs and desired end results. If they are, we will begin by preparing your teeth by removing a small amount of tooth structure so that the veneers will not look too bulky or unnatural once they are bonded onto your teeth. Then, we will take impressions of your mouth and send those to a laboratory, where your veneers are custom-made from a high-quality dental porcelain. For your comfort during this time, we may place temporary veneers on your teeth.

As soon as your permanent veneers are ready, you return to the office and we will “try on” your veneers and make any minor adjustments necessary for the perfect fit and function before bonding them onto your teeth. After that, you are free to enjoy your terrific new smile!

With veneers, you do not need to worry about special care or maintenance – normal brushing and flossing, along with regular dental check-ups, is enough to keep your teeth healthy and clean. However, it is important to avoid chewing on hard objects (such as ice or pens) or using your teeth as scissors to cut or tear non-food items, as this can damage the veneers. Porcelain is naturally stain-resistant, so you can continue to enjoy your favorite foods and beverages such as wine, coffee, and tea.
